Military Legislative Assistant Position Description: Democratic Senator and member of the Armed Services Committee and Appropriations Committee seeks a Military Legislative Assistant to handle the defense and foreign affairs policy portfolio in a fast-paced office. Responsibilities include managing the senator's Armed Services Committee priorities, the Appropriations committee work relevant to this portfolio, liaising with committee staff, drafting hearing questions and statements, developing legislation including for the NDAA, monitoring activity on assigned issues, advising and representing the senator, and building relationships with constituent groups and advocacy organizations.
Exceptional writing, communication, and organizational skills are necessary. Previous Hill experience, military experience, and a public policy background are preferred. This position must possess TS/SCI or be eligible for TS/SCI security clearance.
