An internship with the Office of U.S. Senator Andy Kim offers students a deeper understanding of public service, community engagement, and the legislative process. Competitive candidates are strong writers with a positive attitude and excellent communication skills. Successful interns are good team members, adaptable, and open to feedback. While a demonstrated interest in public service is appreciated, we value diverse experiences and backgrounds. Applicants with New Jersey ties are given priority.
INTERNSHIPS IN WASHINGTON D.C.
The office of Senator Andy Kim will take one communications/media intern a cohort. Duties may include but are not limited to drafting and designing graphics for office social media posts for holidays, days of remembrance, etc., attending events with the Senator to take and edit photos and videos, compiling and sending morning press clips, and organizing the office press list.
Students with a background or interest in digital media, communications, and/or journalism should apply. The ideal candidate will be a strong, succinct writer and have experience with graphic design (Canva and Adobe Creative Suite experience is a plus); video editing and captioning skills preferred but not necessary.
Applicants must be able to meet urgent deadlines, work autonomously, and thrive in a fast-paced environment. Washington, D.C. internships are open to undergraduate and graduate students. The D.C. Office can accommodate part-time and full-time internships.
Internships with Senator Kim's office are paid unless in conflict with degree requirements, outside stipends, or other unique circumstances. Senator Kim is deeply committed to fostering an office full of experiences, perspectives and walks of life.
