DEPUTY COMMUNICATIONS DIRECTOR/PRESS SECRETARY Position Description: The Democratic staff of the Senate Homeland Security and Government Affairs Committee is seeking an experienced communications professional to help lead a fast-paced and proactive press office. The candidate should have robust national media relationships, including with booking producers and Capitol Hill reporters, as well as on-the-record experience and a strong understanding of the current media landscape. Responsibilities include writing and editing press releases, talking points, statements and other materials on a wide range of policy issues, as well as responding to press inquiries and managing media relations for the office. The ideal candidate will be an exceptional writer, able to handle multiple assignments efficiently, works well on deadline, and anticipates the needs of the office. The candidate will also be expected to staff and brief the Chairman and help manage the Committees’ press team.
