First Time Here?
The Eastern Virginia Office of Senator Tim Kaine which is located in Virginia Beach offers internships to talented students. Interns will have the opportunity to learn about the legislative process and get a first-hand look at how the U.S. Senate works. Interns assist in performing various administrative tasks such as greeting guests, drafting correspondence, and sorting mail. They also assist in research, special projects, and events.
Full-time and part-time internships are available. The summer session is reserved for rising college seniors. The fall/winter and winter/spring sessions are open to students at any point in their college careers. Preference will be given to Virginia residents and in-state college students.
Interested candidates should fill out and submit an application (including resume and cover letter) by following the online instructions. A transcript and two letters of recommendation are also required.
Due to the large number of applications we receive, the office is unable to offer an internship to every applicant.
The deadlines to apply are as follows:
Summer Semester: March 31st
Fall Semester: July 29th (Starts August 14 - Ends December 15)
