Economic Policy Legislative Assistant Position Description

The Office of U.S. Senator Gary C. Peters seeks a highly motivated, senior level Legislative Assistant or Legislative Counsel in the Washington, D.C. office to support the Senator’s authorization and Appropriations Committee work on economic policy, including financial services, tax, trade, economic development, budget and housing issues.  The right candidate will be capable of staffing an effective and highly motivated Senator, including leading the development and advancement of legislation and oversight, providing dedicated service to constituents and stakeholders and supervising relevant mail and correspondence authored by Legislative Correspondents. Exceptional initiative, writing, communication, organizational skills and professionalism are necessary. Previous Hill experience and subject matter expertise are important qualifications for this role, and Michigan ties are preferred.
