Senate Internships
The Northern Virginia Office of Senator Tim Kaine, located in the City of Manassas, offers internships to talented students. Interns will have the opportunity to learn about the legislative process and get a first-hand look at how the U.S. Senate works. Interns assist in performing various administrative tasks such as greeting guests, drafting correspondence, and sorting mail. They also assist in research, special projects, and events.
Full-time and part-time internships are available. The summer session gives preference to rising college seniors. The fall/winter and winter/spring sessions are open to students at any point in their college careers. Preference will be given to Virginia residents and in-state college students. The office offers a choice between a small salary or class class credit for the internship.
Interested candidates should fill out and submit an application by following the online instructions. An unofficial transcript and reference are also required.
Due to the large number of applications we receive, the office is unable to offer an internship to every applicant.
The deadline to apply is as follows:
2025 Winter/Spring Internship: Closes Friday December 13th, applications and interviews on a rolling basis
