Welcome to U.S. Senator Jeff Merkley’s online Senate Internship Application!  This site is used by a number of United States Senate offices to manage various requests and applications. You will be required to create an account and fill out a form to submit your request.

HOW TO APPLY

Applications are due no later than midnight Pacific time on the day of the deadline.  Please see the application deadlines below.  Students are encouraged to apply as early as possible so that our office can consider your application in a timely manner, and some programs may fill up before the deadline.

Spring: February 17th

Summer: March 15th (Please note: Due to COVID-19, all summer 2020 internships in our Oregon offices have been canceled)

Fall: August 15th

Winter: November 15th

 

To complete your application, please complete the questionnaire and submit these items by the appropriate deadline:

A current resume;
A cover letter;
A short essay (300 to 500 words) explaining why you want to intern for Senator Merkley

Note:  You may save your application and as you complete different sections, instead of submitting all materials at once.  However, you must complete all of the checklist items for your application to be complete.
