Internship opportunities are available in the Washington, DC, Las Vegas, and Reno offices. Interns will experience the legislative process firsthand and learn how the Senator and her staff engage with and serve the people of Nevada.

Responsibilities and Qualifications

Interns in the Washington, DC, office have the opportunity to work with the legislative, administrative, and communications team. A typical day for DC legislative interns may include answering phone calls from Nevadans, assisting the Senator’s legislative staff with constituent correspondence, researching legislative issues, attending committee hearings, and giving tours of the Capitol.

The Press & Digital Internship with Senator Catherine Cortez Masto (D-Nev.) in the DC office is a fourteen week intensive training in the political media landscape of Nevada and the nation. You can expect to track and carefully record political and state news coverage, as well as media mentions of the Senator. You will be tasked with helping the communications team draft written materials for the Senator and the office, which may serve as a writing sample for your professional portfolio. You will also assist with creating posts and other digital products for the senator’s social medial channels. During the internship you will receive in depth feedback on your writing and observe the inner-workings of a Senate communications team. You should be prepared to offer creative ideas and pitches for press engagement, and receive input from members of the press team. Applicants to this internship should be curious about political media, detail oriented, and eager to learn. Please indicate what internship you are applying for in your cover letter.

Interns in the Las Vegas and Reno offices will focus on constituent services and learn how we support our local Nevadans.
