Research Assistant Position Description: The Democratic staff of the Senate Homeland Security and Governmental Affairs Committee is seeking a Research Assistant to support its technology and acquisition team in performing oversight and legislative activities within the Committee’s jurisdiction. The relevant portfolios include the following issue areas: artificial intelligence and emerging technologies; acquisition and procurement; customer service and service delivery; appropriations and budget.  Ideal candidates would have 2-3 years of related policy, government, or legal experience. Experience on the Hill is preferred but not required. Primary responsibilities include conducting research, drafting oversight letters, preparing memos regarding legislative proposals and Committee hearings, meeting with stakeholders, and other associated responsibilities. Candidates must be exceptionally strong writers and researchers, detail-oriented, be able to work under tight deadlines, and be able to handle multiple projects at once. Salary will be based on education and experience.
