Legislative Director Position Description

U.S. Senator Gary C. Peters is hiring a Legislative Director to manage the legislative, policy and constituent correspondence operations of his office.  Qualified candidates will have years of experience as a legislative director, legislative assistant or legislative counsel. Candidates must have a track record of turning ideas into legislation and legislation into law, being a team player, and having good relationships on the Hill with Democrats and Republicans. All candidates should be excellent writers and even better editors. This position will report to the Chief of Staff but work closely and strategize with the entire senior staff and will closely advise the Senator on all matters legislative and policy related. Previous management experience is required. Senate experience and professional degrees are significantly preferred but not required. Michigan or Midwest ties preferred.
