DC Legislative Internship Description:

U.S. Senator Bob Menendez seeks full time interns for the Fall session in his Washington, D.C. office. Prospective interns should be mature, self-motivated, and enthusiastic. Candidates should also have strong research and writing skills. Duties include attending congressional hearings, writing memos, and assisting staff with legislative research. Interns will also be answering phones, giving U.S. Capitol tours, and processing mail. This internship is unpaid. New Jersey ties are preferred, but not required, and having Spanish language fluency is a plus.

D.C. Press Internship Description:

Candidates must have strong writing skills. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, helping prepare daily press clips early in the morning, drafting press releases, managing press lists, creating graphics for social media, drafting social media posts, and assisting communications staffers with media interviews and events. In addition, press interns may be asked to help with a variety of administrative tasks, including answering phones, giving U.S. Capitol tours, as well as assisting staff with legislative research and drafting letters. This internship is unpaid. New Jersey ties and experience with graphic design programs like Canva and the Adobe Suite are preferred, but not required. Spanish language fluency is a plus. Prospective interns should be mature, self-motivated, and enthusiastic. 

Opening Doors Internship:

Far too often, qualified students cannot afford to come intern in our office because of the costs of housing, transportation, and food. Senator Menendez is committed to ensuring that everyone has the opportunity to learn more about government and the legislative process. Democracy is most effective when everyone has a seat at the table. Senator Menendez is asking for students, who would not otherwise be able to afford interning in Washington, of all diverse backgrounds, to apply for a fall session internship. If accepted, each intern would receive a stipend of $5,000 to help pay for the costs of living in Washington, D.C. Prospective interns should be mature, self-motivated, and enthusiastic. Candidates should also have strong research and writing skills.  All candidates for this stipend must be students currently enrolled in an undergraduate program, and all candidates must have a 3.0 GPA or higher to be considered for the Opening Doors Internship. Applications from individuals with New Jersey ties are preferred.
