Thank you for your interest in a nomination to one of our nation’s distinguished service academies. To apply for a nomination through United States Senator Katie Britt's office, you must be a legal resident of Alabama.
Applying for a nomination is a two-step process that entails:
Step One: Complete an online questionnaire
Step Two: Upload supporting documents which are:
- proof you have an open application with a U.S. Service Academy
- an academic transcript
- ACT or SAT test scores
- three letters of recommendation
- a wallet-size photo
- a resume
- A copy of your Letter of Assurance and/or Letter of Encouragement if applicable
One letter of recommendation must be written by an academic source, such as a teacher, school counselor, or school administrator. At least one letter of recommendation must be written by a non-academic source, such as an employer athletic coach, club advisor, or community leader. Letters of recommendation may NOT be written by family members.
To have your test scores sent directly to Senator Britt's office, please use the following institution codes:
- ACT 7102
- SAT 1745
In addition, to attend one of our nation's service academies, applicants must meet the following eligibility requirements by July 1 of the year of admission unless otherwise stated.
- Must be a United States Citizen
- Must be a legal resident of Alabama
- Must be at least 17 years of age but cannot have passed their 23rd birthday. The United States Merchant Marine Academy allows individuals between the ages of 17 and 25 to apply.
- Must meet the medical, physical, and academic requirements of their respective academy
- Must have an open application with at least one of the U.S. service academies by October 1, 2023
- Cannot be pregnant or have a legal obligation to support children or other dependents
- Academic requirements: must complete the SAT or ACT examinations and meet the academy's specific academic requirements
All applications must be completed by October 18, 2024. Late applications will not be accepted.
