Senator Thune's Internship Program
An internship in the office of U.S. Senator John Thune is a great way to learn firsthand about the American system of government. Interns in Aberdeen, Rapid City, and Sioux Falls support office staff through a variety of duties, including addressing constituent concerns, researching legislative issues, and monitoring relevant news outlets. Interns in Washington, D.C., receive an inside look at the legislative process by attending hearings and briefings, speaking with constituents, leading tours of the U.S. Capitol, providing general office support, and performing research on a wide range of legislative issues. Both Washington, D.C., and in-state internships are paid and allow students to work closely with constituents, hone their research and writing skills, and gain valuable office experience.
