Health/Education/Workforce Legislative Assistant/Counsel Position Description: The Office of U.S. Senator Gary C. Peters seeks a highly motivated Legislative Assistant or Counsel in the Washington, D.C. office to spearhead the Senator’s authorizing and appropriations work on health care, education and labor and workforce policy in a fast-paced legislative office. The right candidate will be capable of developing and leading health/education/workforce legislation and oversight across multiple committees including the Appropriations Committee. The right candidate must also provide dedicated service to Michigan constituents and stakeholders and the management of relevant mail and correspondence with support from Legislative Correspondents. Exceptional initiative, writing, communication, organizational skills and professionalism are necessary. Previous Hill experience and subject matter expertise are important qualifications for this role, and Michigan ties are preferred.
